Growing Up with The Berenstain Bears, an interactive exhibition for kids and families based on the iconic children’s book series, is now on display in the Cultural Gallery at Lied Discovery Children’s Museum.
Growing Up with The Berenstain Bears was developed by Lied Discovery Children’s Museum in conjunction with Stan and Jan Berenstain and the Youth Museum Exhibit Collaborative and originally opened in 2005. Since then, the exhibition has traveled to eight other museums in major metropolitan areas in the U.S. and Canada. Now the Bears have come home to Las Vegas just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lied Discovery Children’s Museum.
Co-authors and illustrators Stan and Jan Berenstain began the beloved book series with the first Berenstain Bears adventure, The Big Honey Hunt, published in 1962. The stories explore universal childhood and family experiences while teaching life lessons about responsibility, sharing, learning and growing.
The vibrant, colorful exhibition continues the demonstration of these lessons through immersive environments based on classic Berenstain illustrations. Familiar Bear Country sites like the Tree House, School Classroom and Skull Rock come to life, incorporating educational exercises in math and reading, role playing, lessons in manners and much more.
Lied Discovery Children’s Museum is located at 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North in downtown Las Vegas and features over 100 interactive exhibits based on science, art and culture for children and families. In 2010, the museum is celebrating 20 years of educating and inspiring Las Vegas children and families. For more information, visit www.ldcm.org or call (702) 382-3445.
