Family that Plays Together, Stays Healthy Together!
As you well know, spring is here and Las Vegas is again bathed in blue skies and sunny weather. For most of us this means shedding our long sleeve shirts in exchange for tank tops, BBQ’s in the back yard, and watering the 5 by 5 square of sod in the front yard. For those of us with pools in the back yard, this also means it is time to break out the bathing suits and enjoy one of the best forms of exercise: swimming.
From just splashing around, to a raucous game of “Marco Polo,” swimming is a wonderful physical activity because it uses nearly every muscle in your body. Your arms and legs are involved in helping to keep you afloat (and splash your kids) while at the same time you are working that core for all it is worth. As a parent of 4 children between the ages of 6 and 9, I am always looking for ways to keep my kids active with things they consider fun. I have found the perfect prescription to be swimming in the pool.
When the family spends time engaged in physical activity, it is much easier for kids to stay healthy and adopt a lifelong healthy lifestyle. You’ll have lots of fun together, and you’ll be showing your kids the importance of getting physical activity on a regular basis.
Exercising together as a family is a great way to strengthen family bonds and relationships. As the mercury begins to rise here in Las Vegas, remember to use the pool as a family activity that makes everyone smile.
