Entertaiment is a vast field, ranging from the individual choosing his own entertainment from a vast selection of pre-recorded products to fit his mood; from banquets adapted for two; to festivals and performances for thousands. Although usually associated with amusement, entertainment can also have serious intent, as in ceremonial occasions, religious festivals and satire. The familiar forms of entertainment frequently cross over different media, and their longevity is testimony to the enduring appeal of some themes and images.
