Entertaiment
Entertainment is any activity that provides pleasure and recreation, ranging from an individual choice of private entertainment, such as choosing among an enormous range of pre-recorded films or musical compositions, to a banquet designed for two; from a group celebration or religious festival to performances intended for thousands; or a public spectacle such as a satire or a circus. Although the term is often associated with amusement, many forms of entertainment have a more serious purpose.
The word entertainment is derived from the Medieval Latin intertenere, which means to hold inside. It is a compound of the prefix inter meaning inside, and the Latin tenere or Indo-European root ten, meaning to stretch or extend.
