A Parents Guide to Las Vegas For Families

A trip to Vegas doesn’t have to be an adults-only adventure. The city typically associated with drinking, gambling and sex offers plenty for families to do, from knock-your-eyes-out thrill rides and wild animal habitats to top-notch family shows and a whole lot more. With sunny weather, bargain priced rooms and food, and kid-friendly attractions, there are many reasons why families choose to travel to Las Vegas each year.

Not Rated – Some f-bombs, foul language and racy sexual innuendo. This movie celebrates drugs, alcohol and debauchery without a sense of consequences or redemption, making it not appropriate for young children.

This is the cleanest of the Griswold movies but there is swearing (lots of “hells” and “damns”, innuendo and a scene where Clark keeps his gambling a secret from his wife) and a subplot that glamorizes underage gambling, which may encourage a younger audience to think that underage gambling is ok.

The 117,000 gallon aquarium inside Mandalay Bay is home to thousands of tropical fish, three species of stingrays and sea turtles as well as a trio of stunning mermaids. Check Groupon to save money on general aquarium tickets, or book an experience like Shark Feeding, Stingray Feeding or the Mermaid Swim to really add a wow factor to your trip.

There are a plethora of shows in Vegas from comedy, magic, Cirque Du Soleil and more. Pick something that will make your kids say, “Wow!” like cheering on their knight at Excalibur’s Tournament of Kings or giggling with the Jabbawockeez or boogie-woogie with America’s Got Talent winner Mat Franco at MGM Grand.

The Springs Preserve, a few miles off the Strip, is an oasis for kids with botanical gardens, walking trails, wildlife habitats and museums. It’s a great way to explore the natural beauty of the Mojave Desert and get some exercise while having fun.
