What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is the art of making people feel good through entertainment, amusement or distraction. It can be used in a variety of ways, from the individual choosing a private form of entertainment such as a film, book or video game; to a family gathering with food and entertainment; to performances intended for thousands. Entertaining forms have shown a remarkable ability to cross media, creating a seemingly unlimited potential for creative remix. The word is derived from the Medieval Latin inter-tenere, which combines the prefix inter meaning “inside” with the suffix ten, from the Indo-European root ten. Its meaning has come to be associated with amusement, although many entertainments may have serious intent such as ceremony, celebration, religious festival or satire for example.
